HANNELL, John (Walton) - Addendum 3

Continued: from John (Walton) HANNELL - ADDENDUM 2...

John HANNELL married Mary Ann (Wicker) NORTON, who had been married and already had a daughter, Elizabeth Ellen. The couple produced a daughter of their own, named Jane Elizabeth.

Elizabeth Ellen married Joseph TURTON. Their first born was William John TURTON.

John Hannell's estate was valued at over ₤13,000, when he passed away ,,, his grandson, William TURTON audited his estate. The following two images are for the quotations for work done, and the tendering for said project, as recorded.

John was active in most pursuits of the 'sportsman' of the area, as well as Newcastle. He was a champion sailer, as was proven on many occasions. This skill transferred to the duties of 'River Pilot' and did not go unrecognised...

When John Hannell died, the section of the Hunter River where his 'Family Vault' was situated, would eventually be classed by the National Trust, as a significant site. See: Family Burial Vault
